Drawing from life

My New Life-drawing Collections and how they came about.

My latest artworks. November 2022 to current day.

Early in November 2022, I decided to attempt working on a much smaller scale. I wanted to try something different, to challenge myself,  but instead of upscaling, I decided to downsize. I want to make my work more accessible to art buyers and collectors. Smaller artworks are much more affordable, collectable, easy to post and a lot cheaper to frame.

I used to work on A2 & A3 sized paper and had been experimenting with pencil and watercolour.  Watercolour such a lovely painting medium to use, especially in short, time slots where you can't fiddle around too much. The problem was that I just was not getting enough time to complete the artworks. I wanted to somehow have, at least some finished pieces at the end of the session of 8 x 10 minute poses. Also I wanted to try to avoid working on them later back in the studio..... I still do.

One of a Kind

My drawing collections are totally original. Each piece is truly one-of-a-kind. They are all created with a spontaneous energy that only the short poses sessions inspire.

These small artworks are perfect for any room in the house and are sure to be a conversation starter. You can be sure that your purchases will be an investment in art that will last a lifetime.

I'll never stop learning.

If there has been one constant source of inspiration in my journey as an artist, I can honestly say that it would be "life drawing".

Back in my art school days it was a tough experience but it really did feel like I was following in the footsteps of tradition, I had to roll up my sleeves and just get on with it. Very soon I grew to enjoy the challenge of working directly from the naked human form, whether it be male, female, young or old.

Now, and for some time the weekly practice of life drawing is one of the most important elements in my practice. Practice makes for a more fulfilled experience each time I draw.

I know I'll never stop learning.
